Alex initially operated out of his mother-in-law's garage, then into the basement of sign painter friend Bert Marquis' house on Nichols St, in Lewiston, before settling in to better facilities located on Washington Street, in Auburn, Maine.

Sock-hops and the 'Car Craze' are helped along with advent of the "Drive-In Diner." Dutchy's Drive in, on the Lewiston/Lisbon line is a fine example of a Neokraft sign that made its mark in local lore. Today, no longer a "Burger Joint", the sign is only a shadow of the past, but it's legacy remains.
